This is Cornelius O’Leary, my great-grandfather, in a passport photo he had taken in 1912 to travel on Titanic when it docked at Cobh (then Queenstown), in Co. Cork, Ireland. He was 25. Fortunately for him (and me), his mother persuaded him not to go for reasons currently unknown. My own father is named Cornelius after him. The friend he gave his ticket to did not survive.
