Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the first human spaceflight. I wish I was attending a Yuri’s Night party, but space enthusiasts in Ireland are few and far between. To anyone attending a party, have a good night! The rest of us can celebrate by tuning in online to the Youtube channel of First Orbit, a film about Gagarin’s flight which will start streaming tomorrow morning at exactly 07:07AM (GMT). More info about the film can also be found at the Guardian, who have also published an interview with Gagarin’s daughter, Elena Gagarina. Info about Gagarin (and some newly released pictures) can be found on Roscosmos' page commemorating the event, here, and NASA also have their own page about the man.

As if that wasn’t enough to celebrate, tomorrow is also the 30th anniversary of the first space shuttle flight. Especially poignant in light of the program’s retirement later this year.
